Lisa McLymont identifies as a multi-hypenate creative who regularly expresses herself through visual art, graphic design & social justice advocacy. Lisa connects deep meaning to her creative efforts, from process to illustrating some of the meaningful ways humans connect to the world around us.
Lisa’s art encourages others to know the power in collaboratively seeking change. She welcomes curiosity along her creative path, exploring the many bridges between past and future worlds, and works to open conversations that lead to well intentioned actions that encourage decision makers to build better support to those marginalized or broken by outdated policies.
Lisa is *always* interested in ways to infuse creativity and empathy into work that supports our community; access to healthcare, education, and other meaningful projects that support human rights.
In addition to creating visual art through murals, drawings, paintings, and other art commissions, McLymont works full time as the Director of Creative & Brand Marketing Strategy at Equitas Health, where she does her best to use her powers for good. Lisa is currently a founding board member of the Returning Artists Guild, a member of the Columbus Public Art Commission, and is Black, Out, & Proud.

Born in Manhattan, NY and calling Columbus, Ohio home since the age of ten, Lisa was formally educated in graphic design and visual communications at The Ohio State University. Lisa M. McLymont earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design through the Department of Design and Visual Communications at OSU, and for the next 20+ years, worked as an independent contract designer who shyly dabbled in art. In 2009, McLymont’s career as a self-taught, multi-disciplinary artist started while enduring a deep burnout. She reached for art and volunteerism to heal and found herself embarking on what is turning out to be the most expressive and productive part of her creative life to date.
Lisa’s methods of work have included forays into drawing, painting, murals, and cold forged metalwork, inspiration found through research and the process of making with varied materials lead. She was a 2010 Fellowship Recipient of The Ohio State University Arts Initiative Fellowship for Emerging Artists, and since then, has discovered new ways of communicating and healing with others. In 2015, Lisa started drawing and painting portraits on wood panel, using the grain to celebrate individuality and spirit. 2020 opened a new avenue of expression; protest murals. What started as a yearning to visually speak out during the George Floyd protests happening around the world, has tuned into an exciting opportunity to explore and share some of the best quotes by some of humankind’s most inspirational people.
Lisa has served as an adjunct faculty member in graphic design at Columbus College of Art and Design and Ohio Dominican University, both in Columbus, Ohio, and has been a visiting artist at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. A former member of the Ohio Art League and the Columbus Society for Communicating Arts, McLymont was one of the founding coordinators of the Greater Columbus Arts Council’s Columbus Open Studio & Stage event, The Art and Artists Of Ohio, an emerging artist’s online community, and a founding member of Black, Out, & Proud, where she also designed their visual brand.
McLymont’s work has been in numerous group and solo exhibits in the Central Ohio area, and is working toward more exhibit and resident opportunities outside of Ohio. Her small family consists of her wife, Cat Sheridan, and our pet babes; Mona, Roscoe, & Ruthie
